CA Oil & Gas a division on CA Global has an International client currently seeking to employ a General Manager Downstream (Fuels retailing / Lubricants) for their operations across Africa. Position will be based in Johannesburg.

 

The candidate will plan, direct and coordinate the downstream operations in Africa: which includes Retail Networks, Lubricants business and aviation business. The candidate will be responsible to Integrate the acquired businesses in all its aspects: commercially, operationally as well as back-office wise. Leads a regional team by providing clarity of vision; prioritizing resources; facilitating alignment of the team; setting high expectations; inspiring commitment; encouraging mutual support; and enabling development opportunities. Develops and implements multiyear business and profitable growth strategies for African region to deliver increased market share by managing financial performance; plans for growth; assessing economic factors, demographic trends, and competitive strategy; enhancing the brand. Analyzes and mitigates risk to the region (i.e. relative to competition, labour threats, compliance needs, federal laws,) by proactively monitoring internal and external risk opportunities to the company; developing an action plan; and utilizing the region team to execute the plan. Provides overall direction for a region by analyzing business objectives and customer needs; developing, communicating, building support for, and implementing business strategies, plans, and practices; analyzing costs and forecasts and incorporating them into business plans; determining and supporting resource requirements; evaluating operational processes; measuring outcomes to ensure desired results; identifying and capitalizing on improvement opportunities; promoting a customer-focused environment; and demonstrating adaptability and sponsoring continuous learning.

 

The candidate must have a degree and have at least 15 years experience in fuel retailing segment of Downstream oil operations. Demonstrable track record of having run one’s “own company” (e.g., as GM driving all components of the P&L and Balance Sheet for optimized business performance.) Proven commercial leader.
