What inspired you to get into this sort of industry?
I am a Mining Engineer by training.
What is the most challenging aspect within your field of work?
The most challenging aspects within my line of work I would say is competency development and strategic workforce planning.
How do you manage and overcome these challenges?
Reading, applying best practices and coaching HR people in these fields.
What has been the highlight of your career?
My career highlight thus far has been helping people to work together (team building) and building synergy between the technical and the human part of an organization.
If somebody starts as a trainee / beginner within your line of work, what could they earn in salary
HR workers in the mining field will roughly start at 70 K USD.
What can this person expect to earn after 10 years of experience?
I would say about 140 k USD.
What advice can you offer people who are in the same industry as you?
Widen your knowledge base, work close to operational people because you need to learn their business and develop your internal consultant skills.

I have worked in Guinea and visited South Africa before.
As you know, numerous African countries are being invested in due to their rich minerals. Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why?
Guinea because it has the richest bauxite deposit in the world. All the players are there waiting for the right opportunity.
