I work for global industries manufactures of edible oils, with skills relevant to lab work.

What inspired you to get into this sort of industry?

My dad inspired me . He was a laboratory technician for 27 years worked in different companies, his love for the job is what sparked my interest. 

What qualifications and experience did you have to gain In order to establish yourself and therefore become a professional within your industry?

SCAN0001Minimum requirements needed in order to be a professional in my line of work is a diploma in science laboratory technology.

What is the most challenging aspect within your field of work?

Generally speaking I would say poor working conditions in that the salary level is not as high as I would like it to be right now. This challenge can sometimes lead to a lack of motivation.

How do you manage and overcome these challenges?

I try to overcome such challenges by looking for greener pasture e.g. applying jobs and try to always keep a positive mind space.  

What has been the highlight of your career?

A career highlight for me has been my exposure to the best analytic laboratories. Having experience in lab work I know how to ensure top quality products such as soaps and edible oils.  Achieving excellent marks for my diploma in science laboratory technology has additionally been a career highlight.

If somebody starts as a trainee / beginner within your line of work, what could they earn in salary?

Approximately 1200 -1300 USD

Who is your role model and why?

I would say that my role model has to be my late dad because he was a very hard working and responsible man.  

What motivates you to work this hard?

My family especially my mum are constant motivators for me.

What is your outlook within your industry over the next 5 years?

The outlook is good; there is new machinery being introduced to the industry. The source of crude oil is now local and cheap unlike before.  

As you know, numerous African countries are being invested in due to their rich minerals. Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why? 

Zambia because of its natural resources like, water, land, mountains, trees etc. as well as minerals, copper, oils, and newly discovered gold.
