Recruiter spotlight questions: Rashid Davids

Tell us a little about yourself?
I am a 29-year-old proud Capetonian, born and bred. I worked in the banking field before I ran my own business. I spent a year working in Lagos, Nigeria.
Job title?
I am currently working as a Recruitment Consultant for CA Global’s Oil and Gas division.
Why choose to work at CA Global?
CA Global is a great company offering wonderful opportunities and has a great easy going working environment.
Academic background?
I did my schooling at Wynberg Boys and studied an Entrepreneurship course at Mancosa.
Fun fact about yourself?
I prefer Burger King over McDonald’s.
Who is your role model and why?
My Mom. She will always go that extra mile to help any individual no matter what their problems might be. She has always been a huge inspiration to me and taught me a lot.
Advice for clients/candidates?
CANDIDATES: Make sure you are submitting your CV for jobs that are relevant to you and your qualifications. Be patient with us, we can only move as fast as our clients allow. Trust us to handle the process for you. Always send us your full CV as we want to see your whole career. Please don’t leave anything out. Remember to follow-up with a phone call, so that your CV and personality stands out over and above all the other applicants we receive on a day to day basis.
CLIENTS: Please give us as much information as possible when briefing us on job vacancies – the more information we have, the better we can provide you with accurate candidates to match your criteria. Communication is key, job specs do not tell us the full story. We need to know more to find someone with the right ‘job fit’ as opposed to simply matching all the requirements.
Which country within Africa do you think will be the next hot spot and why?
Angola. There seems to be growth in the Oil and Gas sector.
What is your outlook within your industry over the next 5 years?
I think there will be growth due to demand for Oil and Gas. Oil and Gas provide the world’s 7.5 billion people with 56 percent of their daily energy needs.
CA Global is a big believer in Africa, why do YOU believe in Africa?
Africa is full of resources and it is the 2nd biggest continent world with a huge cultural background, Africa has over 2000 different languages.
